The dryer use sensors to monitor the dryness of the clothing in the drum for the best performance based on the cycle you select. You could select Timed Dry if you just want to have the clothing dry for the amount of time that you determine, then it wouldn't necessarily take the moisture into account, timing-wise. If you mean to reference the Damp Alert option, which causes the dryer to beep when clothes have dried to a damp level so you can remove the items that you wish to hang dry, then yes - that option can be either be selected or not.
