I have exactly the same problem and looking for answers. I have a second gas dryer a whirlpool and maaaan it’s getting both hot and FAST. Like everything’s dry in 40 minutes while the GE is taking over an hour.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is nothing GE says in their answer. The burner will not come on for more than a few seconds. The dry time for towels is auto set at 1hr 33 min. My friend bought one at exactly the same time only hers is electric. The same setting for towels shows a dry time of 42 min.! I did call GE repair and the service person never showed up! Now I'm waiting again for them to come.

We hate to hear you've had an issue with the dryer not getting hot and taking a long time to dry. We know how concerning something like this would be. As the dryer doesn't get very hot, you may want to check the fuses or reset the circuit breaker to ensure enough power is reaching the unit - if the dryer isn't getting enough power, it is possible for it to tumble but not heat. You may want to make sure the lint filter is clean; this should be done before each load. Sorting is also important – heavy items should be separated from lightweight items to ensure they dry properly. Overloading or underloading can also affect how long it takes to dry – a too large load, or more than one load from the washer, will create a longer drying time. Drying only one or two items can also take longer because they won’t tumble correctly. Starting on page 38, the manual has additional details and troubleshooting steps.
