I have not cooked anything in the microwave or on the stove and the fan comes on by itself. Why?

Over the range microwave ovens have a built-in thermostat. This thermostat causes the exhaust fan to turn on automatically if the temperature around the control panel rises to approximately 150 degrees Fahrenheit. This feature helps protect the electronic components on the microwave. It also helps the cooking area get rid of the annoying heat. The thermostat resets itself and the fan shuts off when the surface area cools to approximately 150 degrees Fahrenheit or less. Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!
