My new home came with a GE microwave with dial and it drove me crazy until I looked it up. Once the microwave starts, you can turn the dial to add or subtract 5 second increments. It’s unintuitive, but it’s easy once you know.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I tried turning the knob to add five seconds after the microwave started but it does nothing.

We reluctantly bought this oven because my wife did not like the turn knob look instead of having touch numbers like most other appliances. The oven just got installed and for its first use, I attempted to use the microwave. I have a product that requires 50 seconds to cook. It's impossible! As you said, it only times things at 15 second increments. The Cook Time 1 & 2 is just for two consecutive cooking times, but it also requires 15 second increments. We're going to have to live with it because it would be too much trouble to remove and it's not returnable because we bought it 2 months ago before our kitchen remodel started. We'll just have to program a time higher and be at the oven to stop it when the correct cooking time is reached. GE probably went with increments because of the turn knob, but I agree that 5 seconds would have been acceptable. I'm hoping the rest of the oven features when they are used are not archaic.
