A:AnswerHello lnr103 - Thank you for reaching out. We know appliance lingo can get confusing so we are happy to help. The upper portion of model PT7800SHSS can serve not only as a traditional microwave but is also capable of convection baking. Please let us know if you have any more questions. - John@GEA
A:AnswerUnfortunately you may not know until you pull the old unit completely out. The new wall unit has amazing capacity for both upper and lower ovens, but it fully utilized the cut out space. The electrical box and cord where the unit connects can be in the way of a clear fit. It wasn’t a big deal, but we had to move ours for the new unit to fit. I think there is a restocking fee, so I would have BB come out and measure for free with a written agreement there is no restocking fee if it actually does not fit. We are still learning to use all the features, but so far we love the PT7800SHSS.

A:AnswerI replaced my existing 30" white GE profile microwave/wall oven combo unit that was put in the wall by the builder when I bought the house new with this new GE profile stainless unit and it fit perfectly without having to cut the cabinetry or make any adjustments. I don't recall the previous unit model number, but the unit was 17 years old, white, and a GE profile combo unit. No issues swapping out the old with the new.

A:AnswerHi Kathy- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Yes, the True European Convection Oven features Auto Recipe Conversion. When on, it will automatically convert the regular baking temperatures entered to convection bake cooking temperature when using Convection Bake. Thanks for checking with us!
A:AnswerI do not know. I would suggest that you look at the installation guide for the new oven combo. It will tell you the size of the openning required for installaion. You can check those measurements against the measurements of the openning for your current oven. Keep in mind the frame on both ovens will lap over the edge of the openning so the openning is slightly smaller than the outside measurement of your current oven. My oven laps over the edge about 1/2 inch on each side.
Hope that helps.

A:AnswerThe microwave time can only be set in 15 second increments (i.e. 45 seconds or 1 minute). To achieve a cook time of 49 seconds, here are the steps; Press the Microwave pad, Turn the selector dial to Cook By Time and press the selector dial to enter, Turn the selector dial to set the cook time to one minute and press the selector dial to enter, Press the selector dial to start cooking, and Lastly, when the cook time reaches 11 seconds remaining open the door. To learn more, check out the Cook By Time section on page 15 of the Owner’s Manual, which can be viewed at the bottom of the Features tab on the product page of the Best Buy website. A:AnswerHello- Thanks so much for your question. We are happy to help! You must use a single-phase, 120/208 VAC or 120/240 VAC, 60 Hertz electrical system. If you connect to aluminum wiring, properly installed connectors approved for use with aluminum wiring must be used.
Note: Effective January 1, 1996, the National Electrical Code requires that new construction (not existing) utilize a four-conductor connection to an electric oven. When installing an electric oven in new construction, a mobile home, recreational vehicle or an area where local codes prohibit grounding through the neutral conductor, refer to the section on four-conductor branch circuit connections. Check with your local utilities for electrical codes which apply in your area. Failure to wire your oven according to governing codes could result in a hazardous condition. If there are no local codes, your oven must be wired and fused to meet the National Electrical Code, NFPA No. 70 – latest edition, available from the National Fire Protection Association. Please check our site for the complete installation instructions. We do not provide the AWG wiring size or gauge (the physical thickness of the wire) for those trying to wire their house for any cooking appliance. There are too many variables involved, such as: length, type of wire, etcetera. This is a safety issue; if the wrong size wire is used, the insulation covering the wire can overheat, melt and cause a fire. The power leads supplied with this appliance are suitable for connection to heavier gauge household wiring. The insulation of these leads is rated for temperatures much higher than the temperature rating of the household wiring. The current-carrying capacity of the conductor is governed by the wire gauge and the temperature rating of the insulation around the wire.
