- Answer The knobs are plastic and THEY MELT. Mine lasted only 4 months.

- Answer Exactly one inch from top of burner to bottom of grate. Grates remain hot for 2 to 4 minutes after turn off

QuestionCan this cooktop be converted for use with propane? Does propane affect the power to the cooktop?

- Answer Hi betsy122, thanks for your questions! Yes, this model can be converted to use Liquid Propane (LP) rather than Natural Gas. The conversion kit comes with the unit. We'd recommend that this conversion be performed by a qualified gas professional. - As for the power of the cooktop, converting from Natural Gas to LP would not affect the BTU ratings. QuestionI just bought this stove and the control knobs are really tight and dont shut the stove off. I had to kill the gas. What can I do? I cannot cook right know. Im very frustrated. The knob light does not shut off.

- Answer Hi Ricardo, The Cafe handles and knobs are unique to the Cafe line of products. You would not be able to purchase them for use on this cooktop. As far as the White finish goes, we are finding that it has a glossy finish, not a matte finish like the Matte White from the Cafe line. We hope that this helped to clear things up! - Answer Hi Deb! This GE Profile Gas Cooktop comes in Black Stainless, White, Stainless Steel and Black. Slate is not offered for cooktops. We suggest models PGP7030BMTS and PGP7030DLBB to pair with slate appliances. -Emelea

QuestionDoes this item has real stainless steel knobs or are they plastic that look like stainless steel? I purchased the GE 30" (not profile) that was less expensive and the plastic knobs are already causing problems so I am looking to see if I need to upgrade.

- Answer Plastic! Didn't realize it when we purchased. 1st use, melted! The skillet was over the grate toward the knob by less than a 1/2". Melted! $25.00 to replace!
