Convertible means you can use the same range hood for rectangular vents going up or going backwards, or circular vents going up, and finally if none of the vent options are present you can convert it to a ductless mode, and air would just circulate in the kitchen area through fan! Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later."Convertible" refers to the the exhaust options ~~ it can be set to exhaust into the room (carbon scrubbers are an optional extra), or it can be vented through the top if you have an attic-to-roof vent.

The hood is 5 1/2" high so you will have some space between the bottom of the hood and the tile if your current hood is 9" high. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Convertible means it can either recirculate air or vent it out side It’s best to look at the installation instructions to send how it mounts. I think it mounts flush with the cabinet bottom.
