There is an app you can use to set a schedule. We schedule ours to turn off after dinner, then have it turn on early in the morning so that there's plenty of fresh ice when we wake up.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you leave it running, the ice will gradually melt and be recycled into the water reservoir. While this is not problematic, the ice will form a clump and become less convenient to serve. I prefer to make as much ice as I need, storing some in my freezer, then I turn the unit off until I need ice again.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need to leave it plugged in and running all the time if you want ice. If the unit is powered off the ice will melt and the water will return to the reservoir. This is just like your refrigerator or freezer in that it needs to be on all the time. Realize that just because its powered on does not mean the condenser is constantly running. The unit will cycle on and off as it needs to keep the ice frozen or to make new ice.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I leave mine on all the time. When the Ice gets full, the sensor will stop making the ice and when it melts, it starts making Ice again.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We leave ours running all of the time unless we are heading out of town. Prior to owning this ice maker, we owned the original Opal Ice maker 1B which lasted just over two years. (We ran it all off the time as well. It still made ice beautifully, but started to leak.) This second generation is quieter and GE made some thoughtful changes to include bin design.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I leave mine on all the time. When it is full it goes to sleep. We use it quite a lot so we want it prepared to deliver nugget ice all the time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We use the app and schedule it to turn off about 9:330 at night, then it turns back on at 6AM the bin is full when I get up at 7:30AM.
