Q: QuestionOur PEM31SM3SS just went out. I noticed the PEM31SF3SS is the replacement. Does the same trim kit work for both?

• A:Answer No!!! it does not , it is 1/2 inch bigger (wider) so you will need a new trim kit . The new trim kit does not fit in all cabinet spaces since it too is wider (26 7/8 wide for outside dimensions)

It is compatible with GE® Optional 30" Built-In Trim Kit JX7230SFSS. Trim Kits are not interchangeable. A trim kit consists of the trim frame, as well as an upper, lower, and rear duct that attaches to and encases the microwave inside the cabinet cut-out. It is important to only use the trim kit designed for that model. • A:Answer Hi Sandy- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We certainly appreciate your loyalty! The comparable model is our GE PROFILE™ SERIES 2.2 CU. FT. COUNTERTOP MICROWAVE OVEN PEB7226DFBB. Microwave trim kits are not interchangeable. You will also need OPTIONAL 30" BUILT-IN TRIM KIT JX7230DFBB or OPTIONAL 27" BUILT-IN TRIM KIT JX7227DFBB. The only difference between the 27" and 30" trim kit is the trim frame. If the microwave is installed over a 27" or 30" wall oven, be sure to match the trim kit width to the oven. Q: QuestionCan this microwave be installed in a 12 inch deep upper cabinet?Is this microwave shallow enough, in depth, to be installed in a regular upper cabinet with a 12 depth and still close the doors? If it can not be, how far does it protrude from the back of cabinets once installed? (13 inches, 14 inches...)

• A:Answer Hi- This is Sue at GE Appliances. It's exciting to hear of your interest! Yes, installation requires a 12" deep cabinet. Allow 2" air clearance on each side of the microwave. Do not install against a wall or cabinet. No air clearance is required in the rear. If the model has removable rubber feet, they may be removed. If installed in a cabinet with the hanging kit, allow 2" on each side and at the bottom. Thanks for checking with us!

• A:Answer Interior depth is approximately 11 and 3/4 inches. Interior height is approximately 8 inches from the top of the rotating plate. Interior width is approximately 17 and 1/2 inches. The model I had purchased approximately 10 years ago seemed to have been constructed a little more solid. But it's hard to find one to fit the wall cabinet depth of 12 in. This is the reason why I chose this model

Q: QuestionWhat is the recommended GE microwave to replace a ZEM200WV? That model is long obsolete but I cannot find anything that is of comparable size. This GE Profile model seems to come close.

Q: QuestionI am looking to replace a GE Profile under the cabinet microwave model PEM31DM4WW that I installed under a cabinet in my kitchen in 2012. Best Buy sells a GE Profile PEM31DFWW. Would this work and could I use the same hanging kit I currently have?

Q: QuestionWhat mounting kit do I need for this specific microwave?

• A:Answer GE does not make a mounting kit for this microwave. I used the previous mounting kit that I had from my old GE microwave, but I returned the GE microwave because it is too small and not strong enough. I recently purchased a Whirlpool microwave that is the same dimensions on the face, but it is deeper and it is 1,200 watts. It fit perfectly into the old GE mounting kit that I had from my old GE microwave. The Whirlpool model does come with a mounting kit, but the mounting kit is out of stock. If you are using the old GE mounting kit, you may have to modify it to make it work with the new microwave. I had our handyman cut it and modify it to work with the new microwave.

Q: QuestionI’ve a built-in cabinet cavity (open in front) for a microwave, dimensions are 24w 18d and 14h. Can I place this microwave in the cavity without the trim kit? Is it safe to place it in the opening without a trim kit? Is there a required clearance?

If it is not installed with a trim kit, allow 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. Q: QuestionWe have an over the range GE spacemaker microwave that is 14.25 inches tall. we need a replacement . would be great to get a convection/ microwave but cant find one short enough for the space. what would the best replacement be? it is 30.25 x 14.25

• A:Answer Not to sure you didnt specify the 14.25 measurement. But im thinking it's the height? So moving forward try to measure how wide by depth by height . You would have a base line to go with. Also if you have to get a slightly smaller one see if there's a trim bezel to go around the face of the microwave to fill in the gap. also if ya have a picture of the older one include that Hope this helps Rich

• A:Answer I have only seen a couple of different units that are for above the counter / under cabinet. The next problem is that they are not carried in stock so you really can't see it in person I was Pleased with Best Buy's help in selecting exactly what I wanted by showing me units on line that where made for under the cabinet, not above range. they Special Ordered the microwave and the necessary hardware that is sold separate and I had the Geek Squad install also. It was Hassle Free and no Headache. Everything was correct when it was received There are some brands that say under cabinet but are made to fit above the range, They are not the same. My Family is Pleased with it. Good Luck with your project.
