  • QuestionDoes the smoke filtration system need maintenance of any kind? If so, how often?

    Asked by SmokinEverything.

    • Answer I just read an article on Cnet . com that says: "Unlike traditional smokers and pellet grills, no significant amount of smoke escapes the chamber of GE Profile's new appliance, which is sized to live on your countertop. Instead, wood-pellet smoke is filtered through an advanced catalyst converter, allowing heat and smoke-flavored hot air to cook and add flavor to the food inside. There are no filters to clean or replace."

  • QuestionDoes this thing emit anything while cooking? Like does it have an exhaust fan or anything, or is the smoke/exhaust/etc entirely self-contained?

    Asked by tipperofcows.

    • Answer Yes, it has an exhaust fan output right below the door (above the counter protector). For us, the exhaust smells strongly like a campfire, this is with cooking on a smoke level of 5. It was enough to cause a burning sensation in our eyes and nose during the day while the cooking was going on.

  • QuestionSmoker keeps saying refresh water why

    Asked by Tee.

    • Answer Thanks so much for checking with us. The "Refresh Water" will illuminate after your food is finished smoking to remind you to discard the used pellets from the waste bin and refill with fresh water.

  • QuestionHow many amps does it operate on power wise

    Asked by Chezdog.

    • Answer definitely hits 15 amps, as I had it plugged into a non-GFI outlet on the other side of my kitchen island and it popped my GFI outlet upstairs, which is apparently on that same circuit! This smoker is great - it is easy to use, easy to clean, after you finally get the side shelves out and the cover off the heating element on the bottom, but this draws A LOT of electricity and also puts out a lot of heat. After using this twice during the summer since I've gotten it, I'm not sure I want to use it again, until electricity is cheaper and it's closer to winter time.

  • QuestionWhat are the inside dimensions?

    Asked by HoustonBeerMan.

    • Answer 10H x 8 1/2 W x 11D useable space. However, less mess from drips would be 10" depth (front to back), to accomodate supplied drip pan.

  • QuestionCan the smoker be set on top of a mini-fridge and used from there? Does it require any heat resistant mat or material if being set on a table or counter?

    Asked by Neecee48.

    • Answer We don't recommend placing the smoker on top of a mini fridge. The smoker should be placed on a level and stable surface indoors, such as a kitchen countertop. It should be positioned such that it has 4 inches of clearance to the left and right of the appliance, whenever possible. Be sure to position the smoker away from flammable materials and any items that may be sensitive to heat.

  • QuestionWhat is the temperature range of the GE Profile Indoor Smoker? What is the temperature range for each of the presets (for Chicken Breast, Salmon, Brisket, Pork Ribs, Pork Butt, Chicken Wings)?

    Asked by JKBurch.

    • Answer Hello - The temperature range for cooking/smoking in the Indoor Smoker is 170F to 300F, though Keep Warm for already cooked foods can go down to 140F. We don’t list out the default temperatures for the six preset cooking modes. They are preset to the recommended settings for certain types of food, but we encourage you to change them to whatever temperature you prefer. The beauty of the Indoor Smoker is that you can change the default to whatever temperature between 170F and 300F you want to use and the machine will remember that new temperature for the next time you use that preset. You also have the ability in the SmartHQ app to create favorites and send those to the Indoor Smoker. We hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have additional questions. Take care! -Don@GEAppliances

  • QuestionWhat size ids the pellet holder? How long does one "load" of pellets last at, say 175 degrees F

    Asked by DMc.

    • Answer It holds two cups of pellets, and you load them at the top. I did a two hour cook, and i maybe used half the pellets in the hopper. I’m not sure temperature would cause a variance in pellet usage, as the pellets are just for smoke generation - the heat comes from an electric element.

  • QuestionFirst question says you have to “prime” the unit… How do you prime the unit?

    Asked by JB.

    • Answer To prime the auger, press the [Settings] button on the control panel. Rotate the dial until “AUGER” appears on the display. Push the dial to select. The auger will then activate for a fixed duration. During this time, the auger will feed pellets through the appliance. Some pellets may be ejected into the waste bin, but these may be returned to the hopper. We encourage you to locate the Owner's Manual to review the complete installation and operating instructions for our wonderful indoor smoker. Click on the Features tab and scroll to the bottom of the Features list to locate the link for the manual. It is also available on our geappliances.com site. Search our site using the model number of the smoker. -Vikki@GEAppliances

  • QuestionIs it dual voltage 100-220v?

    Asked by Nomad.

    • Answer Thanks for checking. No, it isn't dual rated. Per UL label, the unit is rated to 1400 Watts, so for a 120 V circuit it would be 11.7 Amps. However, at some times of operation the smoker will temporarily pull higher Amps. It is recommended to use a dedicated circuit for that reason. Joyce@GEAppliances

  • QuestionWhy does mine keep showing the bin door is open

    Asked by Smokey.

    • Answer If the waste bin is installed backwards, the waste bin door doesn't close properly. This can cause the Indoor Smoker to pause smoking, or you may see smoke coming from the appliance. Please review page 15 in your manual.
