QuestionCan this be used in apartment ? Does it hook up to the sink?

- Answer Can be used at apartments. It is not recommended to let waste water pipes to go to sink. You can do it on that way but then you need to be at present all the time that you will not get water spilled to the floor.

QuestionIncluding hook up for venting the dryer can this unit fit in a 28inch deep space? I am looking at putting it in a closet that is 23.5" deep then the wall is 4.5inches so a total of 28" deep.

- Answer Hello Rose - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. This washer/dryer combination unit requires 0" clearance on both sides and rear and a 1" clearance in the front and top. The dryer unit can be exhausted out of the side of the unit, but because the unit requires a 1" clearance in the front, there would not be enough room to install this in a 28" deep space. QuestionDepth questionThe depth of this unit is listed as 27.25 inches. Is this just the actual depth of the unit box itself or does this include the depth of the protruding wires/tubes/etc on the back? I am trying to determine if this will fit in the space i have. My tenant says the current WD is only 24" deep (box itself, not including wires) but all the units I see are deeper than that. I am wondering if that is because Best Buy's depth measurement includes protrusions on the back of the unit. Help! Thanks!!

If you need to hook up your washer to your sink, then we recommend using our portable model #WSLP1500HWW which has wheels that you can roll to the sink. QuestionDrain Hose and Inlet HosesMy washer / dryer closet has a depth of 281/2 inches. This model will work if I can run the drain and inlet hoses out the side of the unit. I see that I can run the exhaust hose vent out either the right or left side. I am replacing an 18 year old Maytag where the hoses run out openings on the side. It has a depth of 271/4 inches. Best Buy, Home Depot and Sears do not have any floor models so I have not been able to see if this is possible. I have plenty of space on the top and sides, just not the depth.

QuestionType of outlet needed?I see this requires a 30a 120/240v outlet. I have a 30a 125/250v outlet. Can I use this? Or do I need an electrician to convert the outlet to the proper type? Some are telling me that because the voltage is within 5% it's fine, others are telling me I need to fix it before the install. Any guidance would be helpful.

- Answer Hi Lindsey-this is Sue from GE Appliances. We are excited to hear of your interest! The GE Unitized Spacemaker Washer/Dryer GUD24SSSJWW is not Energy Star rated. The dryer does feature Energy Efficient Automatic Cycles. Automatic cycles determine fabric dryness and provide automatic sensored drying. The timer does not rotate during the cycle until the thermostats sense that the clothes are dry, then the timer rotates automatically to Off when the clothes are dry. This feature is designed to prevent clothes from over drying. Washer model WCVH4800K is Energy Star rated. It can be stacked with dryer model DCVH480EK with optional stacking kit GE24STACK (sold separately). Thanks for checking with us!

QuestionDoes it have a water level sensor, or does it just fill up halfway? I have a Kenmore I just purchased that fills up only half way even though a queen size sheet fills the tub. My last laundry center had water level dials.

To view an illustration of the water levels for your washer, see page 5 of the owner's manual at: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90532.pdf The water level for each cycle has been reduced to comply with 2011 federal energy and water regulations. Your new GE Washer is designed to accommodate these reduced water levels and to wash and rinse properly with the quantity of water added for each selected cycle. The agitator design provides better circulation and turn-over of clothes and drives the clothes down into the water. The Power Clean setting uses more water than standard wash cycles. It is recommended for extra-large loads and heavily soiled clothes. This model features a Deep Rinse option. When selected, the washer will go into a deep fill rinse after the agitation cycle. The deep fill is necessary when using a liquid fabric softener or when a deep fill rinse is preferred. On Auto Load Sensing models, it is determined by the load size detected. The deep fill rinse is approximately the same as the load size. Thank you for checking with us.

- Answer I haven't tried a thick comforter--I doubt it would fit. I have washed a full-bed-size matelasse coverlet (about as thick as a blanket), and it came out beautifully.
