The VR uses your celphone, it has now charging or power capacity of it's own. So basically it will be useful for the battery charge of your celphone. I have a Galaxy S6 Edge and from full to depleted it gives me about 2 hours of VR usage.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The phone can power the headset without external power. The headset has a power port that will power the headset while in use but the phone battery still drains albeit more slowly then when running everything off the phone battery. If you have the headset plugged in with the phone in the unit it will charge the phone if you aren't using the system. I have yet to find a USB power supply that will power the headset and charge/power the phone too. I've tried quite a few including the charger that came with my S6 Edge+ and one that is rated for 6 amps and still wouldn't power the headset and charge the phone. I think it might be a limitation of the headset. With the headset plugged in I messed with it for over an hour and went from the upper 50% of battery to the mid 30% range so that's not bad. It did seem to drain quite a bit faster when running on the phone battery alone, plus when running on the phone battery only my phone got really hot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Gear VR get's it's power from your phone battery. There is a small port on the bottom of the Gear VR (on the right side) where you can actually plug in a power cord and be able to have it charging while you use it. This option does get in the way a little bit, especially with a game that requires a lot of movement, but it's at least an option. I'd recommend keep your phone charged up before use.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Gear VR itself is powered by the phone so it doesn't get charged itself. The battery on my Galaxy S6 gets chewed up pretty fast when using the Gear VR. There is a plug on the Gear VR to allow you to connect a charger. I found it obtrusive, and I don't use it for these reasons: 1) I'm only comfortable using it for 20 minutes or so. 2) I don't have a charger with a really long cable that would be comfortable for me to sit while connected. 3) My phone gives me overheating warnings after 15 to 20 minutes of using the Gear VR and charging adds more heat, so I don't want to make that any worse.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It uses the battery power from your phone, and has a charging port. Using the same charger as your phone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Gear VR itself isn't powered... it's your phone that does all the work... You can have your phone recharging while you use the Gear if you want
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The vr itself doesnt need to be charge, but there is a passthrough micro usb port you can use to keep the phone charged
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is no power. Your phone supplies all power to the device.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The VR uses your phone as its power supply yet it does have a USB port that you can attach your devices USB cable to it and charge your phone as well.
