The unit is a simple on and off switch, if it's not turning on i would check that the filter is properly fit and the rear mesh didn't come off a bit, the filter has tabs inside that if it doesn't have the filter or the rear plastic won't let the unit turn on. And of course, check that the new plug has actual energy, like try to plug a charger in.
