Chromecast plugs into your HDMI port on the TV. It does NOT require the TV to be smart or anything. As long as you have a free (unused) HDMI port on your TV - you are good to go. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As far as I know chromecast are compatible with any tv that has an hdmi port. I have older tvs from 2012 with hdmi and the chromecast works the same as with my newer TVs. All you need is a WiFi connection and setup is a breeze.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi there, You do not need a smart tv for the chromecast to work. You plug it into to an HDMI slot on the tv and then into a power outlet. Switch the tv over to the hdmi slot that you used and follow instructions. You do need a device to stream from. I typically use a phone or a tablet. I have used a PC and a laptop as well.
