• If your smart tv is android TV you do not need chrome cast.

• Short answer: No. Chromecast is a smart device in itself. Every smart TV has different features. This one allows you to broadcast quickly. We have a smart TV, but the interface is slow and glitchy. $25 later and our problem is solved. Google Home only pairs to google devices....so unless your smart TV is a google TV...

• Some TVs have this functionality built in. With your phone connected to the same wifi that your smart tv is on you will see the chromecast icon in the netflix app. If you don't see this icon you will need to buy a chromecast.
