It does allow you to choose a language during setup. There isn't much of an interface with the chromecast itself. You interact with your phone primarily.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The setup was in English when we did ours. Not sure if you can change the setup language but it had a lot of pictures. I think there are instructions in multiple languages. I'd imagine since her phone controls everything else she would still be able to use it. If she doesn't have an HDMI/USB connection on her TV she'll need to plug it into an outlet. I believe Japan uses a different plug so she may need a converter if her TV is older & doesn't have a USB port. Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This devise has nothing to do with the language. You use your mobile devices to browse what you want to play and simply send it to your TV through the cast.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Chromecast supports multiple languages, including Japanese. It may or may not work with TVs sold in Japan. I don't know what the broadcast standard is in Japan.

The Google Chromecast Customer Service phone numbers for various countries are available here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6025971?hl=en I have used them in the past and Google Chromecast Customer Service is excellent.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think that you can download a Chromecast app to your smart phone in most language. The setup screen maybe in English or you can choose another language. The streaming language is up to your sister. It will be dependent on what websites she wants to stream and in what language or from what country. Once the Chromecast is setup (it takes about 4 minutes) - there will be no other action to take other than to stream to the TV. Good Luck.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can choose the language interface during the installation, not sure about external applications that also runs in the chromecast
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The results for the search are in whatever language the device is running on. E.g. if you search youtube in Japanese, it is the device is showing the results, not the Chromecast. When you play it, it plays as it would on the device. You may think of it as a wireless projector
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. All of the functionality is handled by the apps on your phone/tablet/computer that sends the device. It is up to the people making the apps to have support for other languages. I presume that, if the app or website support a language, that the Chromecast interface will have it as well.
