You need to hook the Chromecast to the HDMI input on your TV. Then use Google Chrome as your web browser. Chrome has the ability to connect to Chromecast built in.

Please try again later.No you attach it to your TV and then go to the iTunes store and download the Chromecast app. The you use safari (or preferably Chrome which you can download to your Mac) to go to youtubetv. Pick the show you want to watch and when it starts playing you will see the cast icon in the upper right corner. Click on it and it will switch to your tv.if you are doing anything else other than YouTube TV you will have to download some other casting program.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is designed to be connected to a TV with an HDMI input. If you are using a Chrome Browser you can stream from your Mac to your TV. I do and it works well. If VLC video app (or Mac similar) works on a Mac, then you can stream from that too.
