Nest Cam Outdoor cameras can work independently. You can give one to a friend to be set up separately in a different location and account.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I couldn’t answer that with 100% surety. We had to set up each camera for a specific zone/area. But we both are on our account, we share camera access, but the account is under my boyfriends email. Each camera has its own cord and you then setup where the WiFi connection is, so you could try it, I don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t work. If he sets up one camera on his account and you take one it’s going to be in the setup that you tell it where to report to. If you do it, and that works please report back. If your thought works, I’m going to purchase another set for my kids homes.
