No, it is a USB device plugged into a 120V power unit which is powered by an electrical outlet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Technically, yes if your existing wires are the same voltage/current/amps as the device uses. However, by cutting the cord you violate your warranty and they will not cover the camera. Same goes with using their indoor camera outdoors, also will not be warranteed. Their Customer Service is outstanding, and they have replaced years old products for me, so I try not to break the warranty.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Probably if you are good with tools. It has a standard 110 AC wall socket plug at the end of the cord, plenty of room to cut it off and splice the wires if you are good at that sort of thing. The complication is that there is a significant length of USB cord that comes out of the Cam, and which connects to a small (2" circular) USB to AC (power brick?) which means you most likely have a length of cord (15 ft?) you can NOT shorten. Hope this helps. Its an outstanding cam and service btw.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You cannot remove the power/security cable from directly behind the camera. The total cable length is 25 ft. There is a connector near the 10 foot connection to make the installation easier if you run the cable through an exterior wall.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.YES...you can, only if your an experience qualified electrician. Many reviews are about people complaining - what to do with all the extra wire. You can cut the wire. Not sure on how it will effect the warranty of the camera. Even though Paula - I would not recommend using an existing electrical power source. Technically you do have to use the USB hockey puck that converts 120 volts in able to make the camera work, and that will not fit into the electrical box.
