The operating temperature range is for the internal operating temperature and not for the ambient temperature around the Nest Hello. The Nest Hello has a built in heat sync, and since this is designed to be on and running 24/7 the heat sync is expected to help prevent the internal operating temperature from dropping below 14 degrees in most conditions. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I can't speak to the warranty remaining valid, but I can say that we live in northern Wisconsin and this past winter we had days where it hit -25F without the windchill. Never once saw any issues with it.
