I have a 2 wire heating system and it works for me. When I checked using the compatibility tool it told me to take a picture of my wiring and send to customer support. I did and they verified it's compatible and told me which plugs to use in the nest
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Our 2 wire heating system works fine with our Nest 3rd generation thermostats. The wires are small gauge, red and white, with a brown sheathing. I assume it's a 24 volt system. It's oil fired, baseboard hot water. When we programmed the thermostats, "radiators" is the choice we used, as there is no option called "baseboard hot water".
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They have a pre-installation checklist at https://nest.com/thermostat/install-and-explore/. You just check which terminals are used by your old thermostat and it will tell you if the Nest thermostat is compatible.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not sure, but if you go to the Nest website there is a section where you input what wires are currently in use by your thermostat and they will tell you whether or not a Nest is compatible.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought an Ecobee and had to return it because my red and white wire didn't power it on. Luckily Best Buy recommended a Nest for a 2 wire system. It worked! Hooked it up in 10 minutes. Check out my video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-hJJytNAXE
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the wires are two thick wires that probably means your systems is high voltage, which isn't compatible with Nest. Refer to Nest's website for more information.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Likely not. The 2 wire systems I am aware of are high voltage and the NEST thermostat only works with low voltage systems. So out to the web site, they have a compatibility page that will ask what type of wires you have.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you go here the website may be able to tell you, otherwise you can send a photo to Nest and they'll have a look for you. https://nest.com/widget/compatibility/
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, it only works with the low voltage system (24 volts). The 2 wire system is usualty a high voltage (110 volts) system.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have 2 copper wires coming from wall, the nest therm will not work.
