Q: QuestionDo you need this item for the Nest Thermostat to work?
Asked by Diego.
- A:Answer Once you have the right information, the installation was easy and straight forward coming from a guy that is not too handy. Just like others that have had the issue of No C wire behind the thermostat, I turned to purchasing this power connector. The following I learned from doing a ton of research and hopefully it will help out many others. Turn off the power to the furnace. If you only have 1 zone control in your home (meaning you only have 1 thermostat in your home), you wire this power connector to the furnace board. If you have 2 zones or more (meaning more than 1 thermostat), you wire the power connector to the zone controller, not the furnace board. If you have more than 1 zone, you will need 1 power connector for each zone that has a Nest thermostat installed. The Zone controller for me was a rectangular box attached to top of my furnace (see my image, my zone controller is the rectangular box that says Lennox). I don't know what shape or where yours will be located. Once you open your zone controller cover, you will see terminals (where wires are connected from the thermostats) for each zone in your home. Each terminal should be labeled. In my image, I have 2 zones (2 thermostats). Zone 1 you will see the power connector wired to it because zone 1 is my Nest thermostat. I did not add a 2nd power connector to Zone 2 yet, because I still have a non Nest thermostat installed for my zone 2. I will purchase another Nest thermostat and a 2nd power adapter and wire that to the zone 2 on my zone controller.

Q: QuestionI have a red and a white wire coming to the thermostat. What do I do with the other three wires.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer At the control box at the boiler, disconnect the red and white wires coming down from the thermostat ( do not disconnect any wires from the actual thermostat). Use the supplied snap connectors to connect thermostat red and white wires to Nest Power Connector red and white wires (grayish wires). Connect Power Connector remaining three (white) wires to boiler control box red, white and 24 volt terminals. Photos attached.

Q: QuestionI have a 4 wire setup and no c wire. I swapped my g wire for a c wire but now I can’t run the fan only. If I install this will I be able to use my g for fan only and get power to the thermostat?
Asked by Mikey.
- A:Answer Nest thermostats are designed to use very little power, and in many cases they can use your system’s heating and cooling wires to get enough consistent power. Although Nest thermostats would generally work without a common (C) wire, there are some systems that would require a C wire on the Nest thermostat like a heat only or cool only systems. And sometimes, you may need to connect a common wire (C wire) or power accessory, like the Nest Power Connector, to make your system compatible. You may also need the power connector or a C wire in these cases: - When you set up your thermostat, the Google Home app tells you that you need the Power Connector or a C wire. - Your thermostat screen shows a power-related help code, such as E1, E297, N260 or N261. - Your thermostat screen shows “Very low battery. Replace now and install stable power source.” - Your thermostat battery keeps draining. - Your thermostat keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi. Q: QuestionDoes this adapter work with radiant flooring?
Asked by Lindi.
- A:Answer Nest Power Connector is only compatible with Nest thermostats, and floor heaters are incompatible with Nest thermostats as it is considered as a Millivolt system. These systems use much less electricity than low voltage systems and can't deliver the right amount of power to Nest thermostats.
