the short is...the 3rd gen works on about 95% of the new furnaces, whereas the Nest E is compatible with only about 85% of the new ones. it is also plastic casing instead of metal and a different display than the 3rd gen. But functions the same. I have both and like them both the same.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This one has less features, but still does the wireless access (at a better price). Just check compatibility on the Nest website.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The "E" is the economy version. Mostly just material differences and no touch screen. Same app, basic functionality. You can set heat/cool within parameters you set. You can also set the thermostat to Away mode that will drop to whatever preset temperature range you would like. With remote monitoring from the app, you can see what the local temperature in the house is, and change it from wherever you get Internet access for the app.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The only difference is the e doesn't have the high resolution display and the trim is white not stainless steel look.. you can also manage the thermostat from cool to heat as long as wifi is working.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can change from heat and cool. The E stands for eco. I’ve had this was about a month now and love it!
