When the Nest Thermostat 1st Gen and the Nest Thermostat 2nd Gen products launched, they were designed without Bluetooth Low Energy capabilities and they run older chipsets with less memory and processing power than our newer thermostats. This accessory launch does not mean that first and second generation Nest Learning Thermostats need to be upgraded. They continue to help people save energy and stay comfortable, and they receive regular software updates just like the newer thermostats. They simply do not work with this specific accessory.
