The insurance company that TMobile uses will still cover it if you transfer it to TMobile and pay for the insurance coverage. I did the same thing last year with the pixel when I bought it and used it on TMobile network. Unfortunately, I did drop my pixel and cracked the screen so I did verify it was covered. You just have to pay the deductible.

When I get my pixel I'm looking at 40 bucks a year-ish with no deductible. Covers everything the best buy plan does, except extended warranty on manufacture issues.
