There is more to answering this question than just your network characteristics. For one, yes, your internet pipe is fairly small for gaming. Consider migrating to at least 100mbps. Further, your son's computer may not be optimized for gaming. Things like graphics card, main processor, random access memory (RAM) and hard disk speed all contribute heavily to your gaming experience. Each game typically comes with a list of minimum hardware requirements. I would suggest comparing what you have with that list. I hope this helps & happy gaming!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, If he is hardwired to your modem you need a new modem or upgrade speed
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need to upgrade your ISP speed from 50 to 150 mbps at a minimum. Nope no hardware will fix the problem you detail; rather you will need to open your wallet to pay for the increased bandwidth. Also this question underscores importance of supporting Net Neutrality. GOP/Repubs want your ISP to get deeper into your wallet and charge you more for Internet costs and why in part they are against Net Neutrality. Supporting Net neutrality will help EVERYONE's pocketbook, except the Telecom Cable lobbyist!!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is likely that the cable modem does not have the ability to manage IP Addresses. You may consider installing a router in between the cable modem and an Ethernet device such as a gaming console or a switch.
