I set up my Google mesh wifi on top of my existing original wifi and actually like it this way. Having 2 wifi streams in the house means I can leave my Google "Cast" music speakers on the original wifi... (since they do not need much wifi speed to function) and used the Google wifi for all the tablets and smart phones in the house, which we use quite a lot. This way the music streaming speakers don't take speed away from the tablets and I didn't have to change the passwords in the speakers. It woks out great.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your modem is a combination modem/router, and you had already set up a wi-fi network using that modem/router, then I'd go into its settings and disable that wi-fi network. It might clash with the network you just set up with Google WiFi.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Use the one you set up with the google while home. The other one should just be your modem (aka the internet that you are “boosting”).

Though, o would turn off the original wireless as it removes the benefit of the grid network.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.if you give it the same ssid and password as your old one, you simply disconnect the old and then all your devices will connect to your google instantly. now if you mean you gave each of the nodes a name that wont matter as long as the ssid and password are the same.
