Nearly all of the mounts will work with both the HERO5 Black and the HERO8 Black. The HERO8 Black batteries will work in the HERO5 Black and the HERO5 Black batteries will work in the HERO8 Black, but some of the features in the HERO8 Black will not work if HERO5 batteries are being used.

Please try again later.the batteries are not going to be interchangable 5 was different but where the 6, 7 and 8 have the same battery setups. however the grips and other mounting accessories will all work just the same. BONUS on the 8 the mounts are built into the bottom of the camera and there is no need to have a separate housing/frame.
