It depends on where you want to place the fan. A tower fan in the window is NOT going to work. However, (IMHO) a tower fan is better in most any other situation. I prefer the compact size. It can be placed near the doorway and not block the walkway, and have great airflow!

Not necessarily. The regular fan seems to have more power n covers a larger surface. But then again takes up much more space. For a small room, college student, studio apartments the tower is a better idea. I use both. Circulates air better.

Many customers prefer tower fans as the slim profile design fits easily into corners and areas where space is limited.
