• A:Answer Yes. I wanted to 'cut the cable' and not rent router/modem from cable company. I now have a router w/ modem separate. It is a much lower profile than the rented one. Also boost signal around the house. I had the Geek Squad install new tv and move another and hook everything up. They were excellent! They get with the cable company via text and/or phone to sync all. A pain in the butt I did not want to take on. Technology has surpassed me as I have aged. Def recommend the technicians from Best Buy Martinsburg WV.

• A:Answer Suggest you buy a Netgear switch. Depending on how many devices you want to connect via Cat5 cables to the router will determine how many ports you need in the switch. Prices are very reasonable. Probably a 4 or 8-port switch will work for you. It is very easy to do. Connect port one Cat5 cable to the router and every other device Cat5 cable to the rest of the ports on the switch. I have connected 4, 6 and 12-port switches. I am not a technician just a homeowner. Probably find how to connect on YouTube and save the expense of GeekSquad.
