Q: QuestionWhat is a vertical pump? I do not see that on other dehumidifiers listed. Does it have a connection for a hose or is that not necessary with a vertical pump

• A:Answer With a a vertical pump the hose can slope upwards and drain to a higher location. Without a pump, the hose must slope downwards to drain.

• A:Answer Hello, when using the pump feature on the dehumidifier it does not use the holding tank, it pumps the water out of the unit as long as it is running and then stops pumping when it reaches the set humidity level.

• A:Answer Not sure but I have about 25-30 feet of tubing hooked up to mine which runs straight out the back of the unit about 4 feet then makes a bend and goes straight up about 7 feet, then flat across my ceiling ducts then down into a sump pump and has no problem.

• A:Answer The drain hose is 15 feet long, You could easily extend the hose, but the instructions say not to pump it more than 15 feet. We only pump it about four feet and haven't had any problems.

• A:Answer The square foot ratings are bogus in my view. The machine does not know or care how big the space is. It removes water from the air. Consider: in a desert this might be adequate for 100,000 square feet, in a swamp maybe 100 square feet. In the latter case the machine will run all the time if you keep the drain going. But it would burn out sooner. In the desert it might never come on. And so on. What matters to buyers and the only sensible comparison point, is the amount of water it takes out per day. The larger that number the larger a space it could bring to the desired RH. If your house is a desert, one would do; but if your house is a swamp (so to speak) then no device will be enough on its own. Also, the air will be drier in the room near the machine. To do a whole house you'd need to move the air around. If that's your need, you're better off with multiple machines.

• A:Answer There are better ways of controlling moisture in a crawl space. Exchanging the air in the space is what you should be looking into, which can be accomplished by installing an In-Line exhaust fan, such as you would use for Radon Gas mitigation. This accomplishes the task of removing odors as well, which a dehumidifier alone will not do. A competent contractor can help you with this work. I’ve employed this tactic for several clients, and all have been totally satisfied with the results, and I’ve had Zero callbacks for equipment failures because theses fans are made to run 24/7, quietly, and at low-cost! An avg. dehumidifier of the size you’re looking at will run you between $65 & $90 per month in electricity if used daily!!

• A:Answer I can't tell you the exact DB level but it's about the same noise volume as a fan running on low or medium if you turn the fan on high. Even the pump and other components are pretty quiet. It's quieter than some I've had and probably the quietest one or close to it.
