The easy answer is Type T. The difficulty is FINDING ONE! I just spent about 2 hours doing an online search trying to find one. Either places don't carry them, or they are no longer available, or on backorder. They can be ordered directly from Honeywell, at retail, which is $12.99. Ok, lowest I can find the is $9.99, so that's not too bad, but then it's an additional $6 shipping. That part is very annoying.

Type "T" filter. It is not available to purchase. I have checked all over Des Moines Iowa and online, none available. This renders the humidifier unusable.

Yes, the filter must be replaced periodically. It needs filter T.
