Hi rkymtn! Thank you for your question about the Honeywell Smart Color Thermostat. There is no difference between the RTH9585WF and the RTH9585WF1004. The last four numbers found at the end of Honeywell model numbers can signify revisions to the thermostats as well as countries where the thermostats are available. When updates are made to a specific model number they will keep the base (ex: RTH9585WF) and then change the last four (ex: 1004) to signify the change. I hope that answered your question! Thank you!
