Thank you for your inquiry. The plastic smell comes from the packaging around product. We would advise airing the unit out for a few hours in a well ventilated area to get rid of the smell. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm on day 2 of using this and the smell remains. Other places have said to give it a few days. I took the last one back because of the smell - it can't be good to breathe whatever that is. 1 more day and then this thing is going back to Target and no more Honeywells for me. Very disappointed. Seems like bad engineering.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I did not detect a plastic smell. I did add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the warmer and that's probably why I did not get any plastic odors.
