Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we do not test our unit or our filters with UVC lights and do not have any information regarding the UVC stability of the HEPA filters. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at [email protected]. Thank you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We're all living in the death lab experiment of aerosolized & foamate SARS-CoV-2. Manual UV-C light sterilization can ALWAYS be of real benefit at filter replacement time. Why not use UV-C light to sterilize filter intake surfaces *prior to removing* & replacing them? If the HPF-R filters are UV-C stable, then occasional manual sterilization, during their alleged service life, could reduce the risk of passing viable 0.1micron biologics, like SARS-CoV-2, back into room air. It's not perfect, but it would be worth my while to do so - only if the filter is UV-C stable. It's a very valid question, with actionable, real world consequences. Otherwise, why does the 5300B claim to have any "Germ" mode? With no H13-H14 medical grade HEPA filters to improve mechanically trapping/holding-until-saturation biologics below 0.3micron. With no coronavirus protection explicitly accompanying so-called "Germ" mode.

MY REPLY EXPLAINS VERY CLEARLY (STERILIZATION OF BIOLOGICS DURING HEPA REPLACEMENT &, IF POSSIBLE, AS PART OF FILTER MAINTENANCE) THE REASONS WHY I ASKED, WHICH TJG DISMISSED W/O CAREFUL, THOUGHTFUL CONSIDERATION. IF BB IS GOING TO LET TJG'S *NON-ANSWER* STAND, THEN MY RESPONSE TO IT MERITS PUBLICATION OUT OF EQUAL CONSIDERATION. MY POSTS ALWAYS INCLUDE RELEVANT, FACT-BASED CONTENT & PERSPECTIVE. TJG'S POSTS IN THIS Q&A ARE BORDERLINE TROLLING FOR THEIR LACK OF SUBSTANCE. NOISE IN THE SOUND-TO-NOISE RATIO. THANK Y0U.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The R/HEPA elements are fabricated of durable material, but I don't see how using a UVC wand will improve the efficacy of the Honeywell unit, as the filter elements are rated to block particulates even smaller than bacteria and viral size. The recommended replacement of the HEPA filter modules in a residential environment is on an annual basis. They are well protected from physical damage in the unit, and UV treatment might well be an unnecessary additional effort that realizes minimal, if any actual benefit. That being said, it is important to regularly clean the pre-filter element to maintain maximum airflow through the system. Thanks and Good Luck !!!
