Hoover doesn't sell a replacement belt for this device. When your belt is broken, you are instructed to ship the device back to them and to get a replacement if under warranty. Words can not explain how moronic this is. This is as stupid as you replacing your vehicle when the brakes or tires need replacing.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Purchased 3 months ago to replace a Hoover Power Scrub that ran for 8 years with no problems, then the dryer died. We've used this new system a total of about 7 hours over 3 months. Last week it started leaking black drops prior to the rotating brush belt failing then the belt failed, revealing the horrific design of this supposedly "best" machine in the hoover line up. Hoover does not sell the replacement belt and even if they did, you have to take 14 screws out and disassemble the frame just to access the belt area. If you are an engineer (I am) and willing to source an aftermarket belt, you can void your warranty by replacing the belt and hoping it lasts a few months before breaking again. Otherwise you can drop it off at a Hoover repair shop located 70 miles away and wait 4 months while they repair the unit, only to have to do repeat that process over and over again until your warranty runs out. Shame on Hoover for this very poor design. This is a great product rendered unusable by a simple belt that is too weak and impossible to easily change. For those who want to change out the belt yourself: Amazon sells an after market replacement that fits this unit. It's the Replacement Belt for Hoover Smartwash Automatic Carpet Cleaner,Fits Models: FH52000 FH52001,FH52002,FH53000PC(2-Pack). To replace the belt, you must slide the plastic tensioner down, wrap the belt around it, and then slide it back into place (otherwise you will think the belt doesn't fit, because it looks too big).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Do not waste your money on this machine! It breaks every couple months! I have been on 4 machines now and they keep on breaking! I just got one for the nursing home I work in it is only about 4 weeks old it doesn't work! They do t replace it because I used it at a nursing home!! I am livid! It's just not right! They claim it was used for commercial use so they won't give me a new one ever. Though it's only 4 weeks old!! I have recommended this machine to a lot of people now I say DO NOT BUY IT IS A PIECE OF JUNK!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is an addition to the response from 'PapaSmurf357' 6 months ago (thank you Papasmurf!), that shows the picture of the belt replacement area. I wanted to add a few things: 1. After unscrewing the primary light and dark gray plastic housing, there are clips (simple snap into place lips on the plastic) that hold it together as well (seen from the bottom of the smartwash), you will need to place the smartwash (in my case fh52000g) in a full 'tilt' to remove the top piece completely or enough to get it out of the way to access the belt area better. ***Be careful as there is a weak point directly where the screw from the bottom of the vacuum goes, this is about the middle of the belt area just underneath the tensioner. 2. There are three sprocket-wheels the belt will go over/around (two large plastic ones you see in PapaSmurf357's photo) and one to the right- toward the back that is a small metal one (also seen in the photo), in addition to a fourth item which is the tensioner. The BOTTOM of the belt will go over the top of this tensioner once placed. The other way does not have enough tension and will cause the belt to rub on the bottom of this belt chamber. This design is horrid, not to mention the choice of metals used for some of the parts. I've only had this for about 8 months and it's only used in ONE small room. It's ridiculous we consumers are having these problems. The Testing and Design process must have been rushed on Hoovers end of things. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just bought my Smart Wash Shampooer and it does not go out of the dry mode. The wash light doesn’t come on? Any suggestions? I just bought this.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a Hoover Dual Power Max and this thing is junk. It breaks belts WAY too often. On average, a belt lasts about 5 minutes. I have put FOUR belts on it and haven't finished a 12X12 area rug. $149.00 in 2018 and it's going to a landfill.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are at least 2 belts on this machine. There is one for the brushes, and another by the led lights where the design jags a bit towards the motor. unplug it remove brush casing and the brushes like you are taking it apart to clean. remove the 2 screws holding the suction tube. remove the gray ( on mine) decorative looking casing on top, It prys off and you have to start in the back on the bottom, lay the machine flat, You have to depress both the power and the tilt button, put a pry tool on it and it pops up, not super easy, but it doesn't need to be forced either. The first belt is visible and needs to be removed, right by/under the LED wash/rinse lights. remove the 12 screws on the bottom of the machine. (a smaller magnetized screwdriver helps.) The bottom should come off with a little bit of prying. The second belt is on the side where the brushes lock into the machine. If you are really good, you may not have to remove the first belt to get thebrush one on. the two halves down come apart without removing it though. I ordered a replacement set off amazon because most sellers don't say which belts they are trying to sell you. It isn't super easy like changing kirby belt that is for sure.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is the second unit I’ve purchased. It is the last. Contact issues with it. Wasn’t dispensing the water mixture too it apart to fix that and not the brushes work intermittently.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Agree with many comments here. This was a nice machine until the belt broke. As an engineer, I love taking things apart and fixing them. However, this machine lacks any foresight in customer maintenance issues. I gave up trying to fix a common "belt broke" issue with this machine. They don't even sell the belts for a SmartWash. I will be looking for a different brand. Hoover really missed the mark on this one.
