Q: QuestionWhy does my washer unbalance it self and make a very loud noise while rocking the whole machine back and forth?
Asked by Sam.
- A:Answer Hello, there. Thanks for reaching out about your concern as we understand how bothersome a loud unbalanced washer can be. We would like to offer some insightful information to help. There are many sounds associated with washers; however if your washer is noisy there may be a simple solution. To minimize the possibility of electric shock, unplug this appliance from the power supply before attempting any maintenance or cleaning. Check that all shipping material was removed just before sliding the washer into place. Make sure the washer is level. The washer needs to be level and sitting on a good, solid floor. Unbalanced loads can cause the washer to vibrate more. Stop the machine and redistribute the load. The more the legs are extended, the shakier the washer will be during operation. If this troubleshooting does not resolve your issue, we recommend scheduling service. You can do so by calling GE Appliance Service at 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737) or by clicking here: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm. Q: QuestionThere is not enough water, how do we get more water fill. It only fills 1/3 up, not enough to even wet all the clothes. no matter what amount load i have water never reaches above 1/3 i have to literally pour buckets of water from bath tub into it.
Asked by wildflower.
- A:Answer Hello there - Thanks for reaching out! The Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. It's not recommended to manually add more water to the washer. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. -Mikayla@GEA

Q: QuestionHow noisy is this washer?
Asked by Ann.
- A:Answer Thank you for asking. How noisy an appliance is is subject to the end user as there are no specific noise ratings. It will depend on the location in the home and the materials around the washer. We do not rate the sound level of our washers, which means we are unable to provide a decibel level while they are running. Hope this helps. Geoff@GEA

Q: QuestionI cannot get the small hotpoint clothes washer to turn on.What do you think is wong?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hi there, and thanks for taking the time to reach out to us. We hate to hear you've had an issue with the washer not turning on, and know how frustrating that must be. We'd like to offer assistance. You may want to check the fuse or circuit breaker in your home to ensure power is being supplied to the washer, and make sure the plug for the unit is securely plugged in the wall outlet. The washer should have its own dedicated circuit. You may also want to try disconnecting the unit from power, waiting two minutes and then plugging it back in; this resets the electrical components and will often help resolve an issue. If the washer will not fill with water, you should check that the valves are fully open and nothing is obstructing the hoses. You should also make sure the lid is shut when you push Start - the safety feature will not allow spinning and agitation when the lid is up. You might want to double check that you pressed the Start option, and the washer hasn't been paused. Further instructions on getting started with the washer begin on page 5 of your manual. If these troubleshooting steps do not help resolve your issue, our service department can be contacted at 1-800-432-2737 and would be glad to assist. We are happy to help with any other questions or concerns. Wishing you all the best! -Sarah@Hotpoint

Q: QuestionCan you wash a king size comforter in this washer
Asked by Mo.
- A:Answer Hi - Thank you for reaching out to us. There is no absolute answer to this question. King size comforters can not only vary slightly in physical dimensions (California King vs King), the thickness or how plush the comforter is can make a difference as well. Generally, if your comforter fits below the balance ring of the washer tub and is not stuffed in the tub tightly, it can be washed in this unit. We hope this helps. Vikki@GEA

Q: QuestionIs it easy to remove the cover from this machine? I need to get this 27" machine down a narrow staircase that is 23.5" at one (small) point. I was told that this would be my best bet for getting a regular sized washer down my tiny stairs.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hi - We're glad you checked with us. Removal of the front panel is not going to reduce the size of the washer to fit in the space you mentioned. The front panel is approximately 1" deep. The actual top cover of the washer will still extend the full 27" depth. We would not recommend you attempt to disassemble the washer in order to get it to fit the narrow space you have described. We wish you all the best! Vikki@GEA

Q: QuestionCan this electric dryer be bottom vented? Does the door on the dryer reverse?
Asked by tuliphaus.
- A:Answer The Hotpoint dryer can be bottom vented. It has a knockout plate on the bottom of the dryer meant just for bottom venting. You would have to remove the bottom panel knockout, reposition duct into downward position, plug the hole on back panel with the knockout and duct foil tape, and prep the dryer transition duct rated for bottom venting such as a semi-rigid transition duct. Nonetheless, it is very possible to vent the dryer from the bottom. Venting from the bottom will also allow you to push the dryer further back towards the wall than you could if duct was behind dryer. The door is also reversible on this dryer. Just remove the plugs on one side, and unscrew the door hinges from the frame. Then place the door hinges on the side where the plugs/rivets were with the screws. it can be reversed in under five minutes with a drill with an extension and Phillips #2 bit. Just make sure to not overtighten screws with drill/driver, and use lower torque setting. Afterwards, place the plugs into holes remaining on other side and you will be good to go.

Q: QuestionHow long does it take to run a load of laundry with this machine?
Asked by Lance.
- A:Answer The time will vary depending on load size and settings used for wash cycles. Most of my loads take a little over 30 minutes to complete. The final spin cycle is the longest, and lasts roughly ten minutes no matter what setting I've used so far. The wash/agitate cycle timing will vary considerably based on settings used during wash cycle, especially if using bulky setting. Load time will also increase if pausing during cycle to add clothes. Expect on average about 35 minutes for a load to finish.
