Only the LTE-enabled model will work for cellular data. This model costs an extra $20-$25 (I forget exactly), and will also need to be connected to a cellular data provider which will obviously charge for the data usage (or can be used on WIFI only). The sales associate I spoke with told me that it would only work with Verizon, but you might want to do some searching to confirm. If I remember correctly, there was no SIM card slot. There definitely was no SIM card provided separate from the computer, so I think it comes pre-installed.
