Your Chromebook will NOT be a paperweight when auto updates end. I have a Chromebook that I bought open-box at Best Buy in 2013 for about $100, the AUE was 2018, and I am still using it 3 years later with no significant issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thank you for the question. Although it's not possible to receive Chrome OS updates after the end of automatic updates, you can add a new operating system, which is very similar to Chrome OS. You can install this operating system from Neverware. The CloudReady OS is built using Chromium OS, which is the same OS used for Chrome OS. Note that by 2024, there may more solutions available to you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This unit was released in 2021. (Verified by my serial number). Yet the updates expire in only THREE years? What gives?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Once expired you will not get browser updates and you may be prone to security issues. The browser needs to be up to date to handle the millions of attacks per day on peoples computers. I talked to a google agent about this and there is no way around this update issue as of yet. Maybe google will change policy later but as of now they stop the updates. You can continue to use the laptop just expect no support for issues from them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That sounds good but how long will it last?
