Once you get past the slight learning curve, in my opinion, Google apps are much more user friendly. I had always used Microsoft office until I started working for our local school system who gave us Chromebooks. I was amazed how easy the transition was. I loved them so much that I downloaded the Google apps on my iPhone and use them instead of their default apps. Then I downloaded Chrome and the apps on my old laptop which ran on Microsoft. I love that I can pick up right where I left off at home with laptop when I leave work or at the ballpark watching my sons game on my iPhone. I literally just bought my first Chromebook, this model, today. I am so excited!! You can also download extensions through your Chome store that convert word to docs(googles equivalent), PowerPoint to slides, etc if that is a concern and the reason you want to stick with Microsoft
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You do have to buy Office 365, since you can’t download the software. You must install the applications through the Google play store. For this specific model, Excel is not able to be installed. I’m not too sure about PowerPoint ability to download on this model. However, to save money, you could use the internet based office version that is offered for free. You just have to use your outlook account to have access. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, do have very limited feature compared to the software version. The other downside is that, to access the free version of Office, you must have internet. It does include Google alternative applications to Office applications. Google’s alternative also have very limited features.
