This does come with Windows 11 Home in S Mode which will prevent you from downloading third-party applications, but you can turn off S Mode. S Mode does help provide extra security for the unit and S Mode cannot be turned back on once turned off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The other answers are basically correct, but just to correct a couple of data points: 1) S Mode does help provide extra security, but only in the sense that it means you can only use apps available on the MS app store, which presumably have been verified by Microsoft as "safe." However, as an example, Firefox is on the app store, but you can only install it after exiting S Mode, so that's a bit confusing. 2) Everyone MISTAKENLY tells you that you cannot return to S Mode after exiting it. This is COMPLETELY UNTRUE, but comes with a caveat. You can exit S Mode by resetting the device to its original condition (as you might if it became highly unstable, or you were selling it, and didn't want your private information walking out the door with the sale). This reset WIPES OUT everything done on the computer since you first logged on.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can download anything you want by once you get rid of S mode, its easy
