Yes. 201X is a larger capacity cartridge than the 201A. Since it would last longer, I found it better to buy it rather than pay for the packaging required for 2 201A cartridges.

Yes they are the same, just extra yield out of the 201x. I use the x cartridge because it means changing out the toner carts a lot less often. Plus you save money. In my experience, you should only buy original manufacturer toner cartridges. I had "refilled re-manufactured" carts leak and ruin a perfectly good $300 printer.
