Well I'm guessing if your printer claims to be compatible with both HP 27 and 56 cartridges, then it all comes down to preference. The HP 56 ink cartridge claims to be able to print more, therefore it would cost more. However if you aren't one to print a lot then most likely your ink will dry out and you'll be wasting your money. For example, the HP 27 ink cartridge can print about 200 pages while the HP 56 could reach about 400 pages but eventually if left on printer for months it'll dry up and lose that potential. You could buy one and calculate an estimate but basically it's just up to you and your usage. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c00428060
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If I recall correctly it is the amount of possible pages that can be printed. I believe the 56 can print double the number approximately, hence the price difference. Pretty sure that's why I decided to purchase the 56 - more bang or rather more print for the buck. Check out the small print (no joke here) on the outside cardboard packaging and compare it. I am certain it tells you there.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The HP 27 and HP 56 black ink external cartridge bodies are IDENTICAL. The HP 56 is a "legacy" cartridge, which holds about 2 times as much ink.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.56 to 27, the 27 prints just less than half as many pages.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Print differences will depend on the setting of the printer and the printer that it is being used with.
