There are two 564XL black cartridges used in HP PhotoSmart printers. The narrow one has a symbol that looks like a bow tie, the thick one has a pentagon (not a hexagon). The box for the narrow one will be marked "photo" and has a symbol resembling a camera. The box for the thick one does not have anything, just 564 XL. Hope this clarifies it for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The hex shape refers to the regular black ink cartridge location. There is a Photo black ink cartridge and its location is a "dumbbell," but the Photo cartridge is clearly marked on the box. All other Black 564 cartridges will go into the hex location.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For the hex shape, I believe the box is usually bigger. If not, you can always talk to an employee and they can open the box for you to make sure it is the correct one. If you buy the wrong one, you can generally return it without a problem.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The box will have written on it if is black ink or the photo black. They are totally different. Photo black one is smaller.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's confusing; it appears that there were some cartridge size changes made. My c309 printer has an extra large space for the black which will accommodate both the regular and double size cartridges. I have used both sizes without any issue.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is twice as much ink in the cartrage.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the number 564 will identify the product.
