Yes and No. Out of the box, the keyboard backlight does timeout after 30 seconds. However, you could set the backlight to Never, 30 sec or 3 min. To set this, you need to go to the BIOS settings by restarting your laptop and continuing pressing the F10 button until the BIOS opens. Use the arrow key and navigate to the Configuration tab and select Keyboard Backlight Timeout and then select Never, 30 sec, or 3 min. One last thing, the backlight will turn off if your computer goes to sleep mode even on NEVER setting, which should be a good thing.

This means that the backlight will turn off after a period of inactivity to save power. However, you can change the timeout settings in the BIOS. Here are the general steps to do this: Restart your laptop and press the F10 key repeatedly until the BIOS opens. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the ‘Advanced’ tab. Navigate to ‘Built-in Device Options’, and then press Enter. Select 'Backlit keyboard timeout. Press the spacebar to open the keyboard backlight settings. Select the timeout setting you want.
