Hi there, to get the most out of your ink cartridges you should make sure to always leave the printer powered on (It uses less power than your doorbell when on standby) so it can complete any maintenance on the cartridges to keep them from drying out. Your ink cartridges should last 8 months in the printer or until you print the estimated yield of these cartridges which is a little below 150 pages. This printer can copy as well as scan and print!

Please try again later.I've seen that issue with ink drying out on other printer, so on this printer I try to print at least one page per month, and that has avoided the issue - whether it is strictly required in order to avoid I don't know. Yes, a photocopy function is available through the front panel even without a computer.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.All HP Tri-Color Ink Cartridges, both regular and XL will not run out but dry out if you let them sit more than a few weeks. You should create a small maintenance document with a paragraph composed of characters that are composed of Black, Yellow, Cyan and Magenta and print out that small document every ten days or so just to keep your inks flowing so there are no surprises. Black seems to hold it's age fairly well but I would still include black in the small paragraph. Not huge characters or graphics, just about a third of a page in 12 point font with letters of all 4 colors.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The printer has an option that allows you to photocopy without connecting by using the small display screen in the front of the printer. (It gives options that include how many copies and black/color). The ink cartridges do not dry up as far as I have seen (working with other printers similar).
