As far as I can tell, no. I was able to have the warranty honored when I, unfortunately, had one of the memory modules fail within the limited warranty period, even though I had opened the laptop up to try & diagnose the issue myself. I don't know if they'll do anything if you've upgraded the parts, but I'm certain that they won't care if you've opened it & left the configuration stock. If you wish to stay on the side of caution, should you have to send it to HP under warranty, just bring it back to factory spec before you start any service under-warranty.
