HP offers several Care Packs for the extended warranty, and Best Buy's extended warranty, Geek Squad Protection, covers several types of failures including drives, damage from power surges, batteries, and more. Please visit the respective websites for further information. Note that HP has a Care Pack that can be purchased prior to the expiration of the standard warranty. This could be helpful if you wish to purchase the laptop now but would prefer to take your time in discovering which extended warranty you'd prefer. Geek Squad Protection must be purchased within 60 days of acquisition of the product.
