I would very much like to know the answer to this myself because I really would like to purchase this model HP. The answers are all over the board. I read every RAM upgrade question on this model. Even the HP team members don't know the answer. One HP guy says yes, one HP guy says no. It is also the same back and forth on the HP Community forum. I am personally inclined to trust the companies that deal solely with memory upgrades and are the memory experts. All three major websites that sell RAM upgrades say that this model CAN'T be upgraded. Mr. Memory and Crucial both said there were no RAM upgrade options and 11 SSD upgrade options. Memory America went so far as to say that a total up to 16GB could be soldered, but that the socket itself is not upgradeable. Why in the world HP chose this route is beyond my understanding. I am sure they have their reasons. The 32 GB Optane memory is a nice feature and sounds good, but it is not true RAM. This will be my third HP. I have owned a Pavilion x360 and another Envy x360 and they were both upgradeable. I am a little shocked that this model isn't. I spoke with a member of The Geek Squad and asked him about it and his answer was shaky at best. Truthfully, 12 GB will probably be enough for the vast majority of users, including myself. If it turns out that it can be upgraded, it will be a bonus and I will gladly take advantage of it.
