• Also know that highlighting text printed by an ink jet printer may smear the black ink. With some printers, this can happen even after it appears the ink has dried. The ink (toner) on the laser printer never does this, so you can highlight to your heart's content.

• Laser printers use toner and heat to fuse the toner to the paper. Inkjets "spray" ink directly onto the page. Inkjets are usually cheaper per page to print. Laser printers are more permanent as most inkjet pages will run if water gets on it.
